New albums, new songs, new videos and newly announced US tour dates make up the news stories this week...
Canadian duo, Fortunate Ones, release their debut album today. The band, who are guitarist Andrew James O’Brien, and pianist and accordion player Catherine Allan, both of whom are from Newfoundland, sang together for the first time in 2010. Three years later they formed Fortunate Ones and have been touring, writing and recording together ever since. Their debut album, The Bliss, is filled with 11 tracks that they recorded in Nova Scotia towards the end of last year. This is the video for the title track:
Irish singer, Anna Mitchell has released a new video for the lead single, What's A Fool To Do, from her debut album which she is releasing this week (February 13th). Anna released an EP, called Fall Like That, last year but this will be her first full-length record. It's called Down To The Bone and this is the video for the first single:
From today, you can grab a free download of a brand new track by four-piece English band, Hunter & The Bear. The song, Like A Runaway, will be on the new album they are planning to release later this year but they are currently offering it as a free download via this link. The band are currently on tour in the UK, promoting their EP from last year, Before I Come Home. This is the video for a track from that record:
A couple of new videos have been posted online over the past few days...
Canadian, Catherine MacLellan shot a video in her house on Prince Edward Island, of her singing a track from her latest album, The Raven's Sun. The album was last week nominated for a Juno Award in the Roots and Traditional Album By A Solo Artist category. This video - for the song Hold On – is the second of a series that Catherine will be releasing each Thursday. The first video, for another track on Raven's Sun, called Frost In The Hollows, can be viewed here. This is the video for Hold On:
And English singer, Dan Hartland, made one for the track, Tie And Shoe, which is on his most recent album, Young Man's Game:
Two Canadian artists have announced some new US concerts that will be taking place over the course of the next four months.
Matt Andersen, whose most recent album, Weightless, is another of the records nominated for a Juno Award in the Roots And Traditional Album By A Solo Artist category, will be kicking off his latest US road trip in Minneapolis, MN, on February 19th, supporting Beth Hart. And alt.country artist Daniel Romano, from Ontario, begins a 16 date, headlining tour in Chicago on March 12th. He will be visiting 11 states, promoting his latest album, Come Cry With Me – a track from which appears on TIAMS #1505.
