New music. English band, Broken Boat, release their debut album this week. Small Defeats, is the follow up to their debut EP, Peace And Quiet, which they released in 2012. Their first full length album features 11 new tracks including Boy In Rags (featured on TIAMS #1423). This is their joyful, home-movie style video for the album's title track:
Slightly more established artist, Richard Thompson, from England, releases his 21st studio album. Acoustic Classics is a 14 track affair which includes acoustic versions of some of Thompson's classics (who'd have guessed?), including, I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight, 1952 Vincent Black Lightning, and Dimming Of The Day. Respected site americanaUk calls the album, “the house concert you've always wanted,” as Thompson nails the tracks with just an acoustic guitar in a studio setting, rather than on existing live recordings of varying audio quality.
Australian band, Breaking Hart Benton have also released their new album this week. It's their first full length offering – after the release of an eponymous EP in 2012. Called, Love Is Not For You, My Dear, the album features 10 tracks, including The Desperate And The Dazed (played on TIAMS #1424) and the single More Than You Deserve – for which this is the video:
