A few new records to talk about this week.
Paul Saint John, from Fife in Scotland, but who now lives in Philadelphia, PA, releases his new EP this week. Called Panic Merchant, it's a quick follow up to his album from last year, Eleventeen. You can hear a track from the new EP on TIAMS #1437 – but this is another of the songs from it - a tale set in the City of Brotherly Love:
The debut album from French Americana artist Pauline Andres comes out this week. All Them Ghosts is filled with 11 songs that Pauline describes as “music to drink liquor to.” The process of bringing her songs to life on an album was, according to Pauline, much harder than she imagined and nothing went as planned. You can hear one of the tracks on TIAMS #1437 – and you can read her blog about making the album, and stream another one of the songs from it, via Pauline's website.
Phenomenal New Zealand roots rockers, The Eastern, have announced the details of their new album. Called The Territory, it will be released on Rough Peel Records at the end of the month. It contains 15 new songs (the running time is over an hour) and opens with the seven minute epic title track. The band have just released the first single from it, The Stepping Razor; you can hear it here. And this is a version a song called The Prayer, which is the final track on the new album:
Scotsman, Daniel Meade, has just released an official video for the first single from his forthcoming album. The single, Long Gone Wrong, is out now ahead of the release of the album, Keep Right Away, which will be the follow up to Daniel's current album, As Good As Bad Can Be. Daniel has been on the road supporting Sturgill Simpson on his British and Irish tour over the past month. The “B side” of the latest single is Help Me Tonight – which features American singer, Diana Jones and both tracks - and the album - have been produced by Morgan Janig from Old Crow Medicine Show. This is the video for Lone Gone Wrong:
Fans of the Canadian band, The Coal Creek Boys, have two things to look forward to – and can currently grab a free download of a new song. The band have just announced the details of their next album. It's going to be a double album called Out West and it will be released through the Dallas, TX, record label, Classic Waxxx next year. However ahead of that, they are going to release an album called The Church Sessions, which will feature stripped back versions of some of their existing songs as well as couple of covers. You can download – for free – one of the songs, The Wolf And The Bear, recorded during one of the sessions for that album, here. And this is video for the title track of the double album, Out West:
Australian singer, James Thompson, has released a video for a track from his forthcoming album. James has a crowd-funding campaign running at the moment to help finance the record, Cold Moon. If you'd like to contribute, you can find the details here – and this is the video for the track, Can't Go Home This Way:
